Founded in 1925, Wright & McGill Co is the world leader in the manufacturing and distribution of fishhooks. It offers a complete line of fishing products and owns sector-leading brands like Eagle Claw, Lazer Sharp, TroKar, Shappell, and Wright & McGill.

The Challenge

Outdated Infrastructure Delaying Digital Transformation

Wright & McGill's ability to launch new features and scale up was limited by their outdated on-premises infrastructure. A hardware upgrade was needed – but it came with a binding 5-year contract.

The company wanted to start their journey toward digital transformation but minimize the cost and complexity that might be associated with the migration.

The Outcome

A Holistic Approach to System Migration

The first stage of Sutherland’s engagement with Wright & McGill was a holistic assessment, including financial, technical, operational, security, and licensing dimensions.

From there, we mapped out the optimal migration path to transition their infrastructure to the cloud.

This encompassed everything from the EBS production to development, testing, and patching environments, all streamlined for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. To ensure business continuity, we established a disaster recovery environment tailored for their enterprise business systems.

The transition to Oracle cloud was executed seamlessly, using Sutherland’s zero-cost migration approach to deliver a modern, unified cloud-based system that is efficient to manage and support.
