Process improvementClient Overview
The client is a mid-sized telecom infrastructure provider with operations spanning 35 geographical locations. Following a demerger and strategic acquisition, the combined organization, with roughly $500 million in revenue, needed to modernize and scale its Oracle-led finance and enterprise operating model across a complex global footprint.
The Challenge

Fragmented Structures Made Global Finance Transformation Difficult to Scale
Following the demerger and acquisition, the client was operating across multiple locations with fragmented enterprise structures, inconsistent Charts of Accounts and non-standardized finance processes. These issues contributed to long month-end and year-end close cycles, reconciliation failures across business units and extensive manual workarounds.
The challenge went beyond process remediation. The client also needed a scalable approach for Oracle rollout across all locations, supported by the right licensing strategy, data-hosting model and integration architecture. At the same time, it wanted to introduce AI-led automation into core finance, procurement and supply chain processes without adding further complexity.
Sutherland Solution
Global Oracle Transformation with AI-Led Automation, Delivered in Under 1 Year

Sutherland designed and supported a global Oracle transformation across 35 geographical rollouts, addressing finance processes, enterprise structure, technology architecture and AI enablement.
- Enterprise structure and Chart of Accounts redesign: Standardized the Chart of Accounts and enterprise structure to address fragmentation created by the demerger and acquisition.
- Subledger process streamlining: Simplified subledger processes to reduce inefficiencies and improve reconciliation.
- Licensing, hosting and integration strategy: Defined the Oracle licensing approach, data-hosting model and integration strategy needed to support the global transformation.
- Data migration: Redesigned the migration approach to align with changes in the enterprise structure.
- Governance and change management: Established governance and change enablement to support adoption across locations.
- AI agent enablement: Helped set up procurement, ledger, payable, invoice automation and multilingual month-end supply chain agents.
- Oracle AI use cases: Enabled AI-led purchase request creation and autonomous invoice management using Oracle AI services and Sutherland AI platforms.
The Outcome

Faster Close, Stronger Reconciliation and a Scalable Ai-Enabled Global Model
The transformation improved business performance while creating a more scalable foundation for Oracle operations across its global footprint. 50% process improvement resulting in enhanced efficiencies, while process-level KPIs improved by 70%.
Technical performance also improved, with a 70% reduction in close cycle time, a 100% GL-subledger reconciliation compliance and a 35% improvement in test automation coverage / audit exception reduction.
Beyond remediation, Sutherland helped establish the licensing, hosting and integration strategies required to support global rollout and introduced AI agents across procurement, ledger, payables, invoice automation and multilingual month-end supply chain processes. This expanded the engagement from a finance remediation initiative into a broader Oracle transformation combining operating model redesign, global deployment and AI-led automation.
