Sutherland to Present at Parks Associates CONNECTIONS™ Community Session on Supporting the Connected Consumer

Sutherland’s Bharat Chadda will address the need to redesign user experiences on IoT and connected devices

ROCHESTER, NY — Oct. 6, 2020 — Sutherland, the digital transformation company, today announced its participation in a panel as part of the upcoming Parks Associates’ CONNECTIONS: The Premier Connected Home Conference. The CONNECTIONS virtual session series and conference will focus on the challenges and opportunities for smart home providers as adoption expands, leading to greater demand for and integration of multiple connected device markets.

Bharat Chadda, senior vice president of Technology, Media and Communications at Sutherland, will be presenting in the Community Session panel titled, “Supporting the Connected Consumer,” taking place on Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. CT. The interactive session, moderated by Patrice Samuels, senior analyst at Parks Associates, examines how the proliferation of connected devices enables new levels of consumer engagement and the importance of positive onboarding experiences in fueling that growth.

Chadda will discuss how connected device manufacturers can minimize or eliminate the impact of poor user experiences by overcoming key barriers to adoption. Parks Associates’ latest research finds that 31% of smart home device owners who set up their connected devices themselves report the process was difficult. This calls for the need to rethink approaches to product onboarding and support to drive better experiences while minimizing costs, especially as adoption continues to rise.

“As we continue to see more consumers harnessing connected devices at home, product design must put customer experience at the forefront,” Chadda said. “For manufacturers to capitalize on user growth, it is imperative they deliver seamless installation, ease of integration with other IoT devices and advanced security and AI capabilities in order to create unified, tailored experiences for consumers — and be able to do it at scale.”

CONNECTIONS focuses on the use cases and emerging business models that will successfully engage consumers and grow revenues in the converging IoT industries.

“As more aspects of daily life get connected, and as people spend more time in the home, new opportunities emerge that cross multiple industries, including energy usage monitoring, risk mitigation from flood and fire, health and safety monitoring, tracking of valuables, and appliance maintenance updates and monitoring,” said Elizabeth Parks, president, Parks Associates.

Additional speakers on the “Supporting the Connected Consumer” panel include Peter Butler, general manager at Everise; Alan Coleman, founder and CEO of Sweepr; and Ron Conant, CEO of Cirrent. To register, please visit the CONNECTIONS website online here.
