Sutherland Healthcare Appoints Digital Thought Leader Dr. Shailja Dixit as Chief Medical Officer

Clifton, New Jersey, August 2, 2017 – Sutherland Healthcare announced the hiring of Shailja Dixit, M.D., M.S., M.P.H., who will serve as chief medical officer and global head of digital innovation. A trained physician with 20 years’ experience pioneering in the healthcare industry, Dr. Dixit is a proven innovator whose focus on strategy, product development and research will further Sutherland’s ability to drive process transformations for Sutherland clients in healthcare and related markets.

Dr. Dixit will oversee Sutherland Healthcare consulting and strategy teams as well as lead the design and implementation of next generation automation and digitalization to strengthen Sutherland’s client offerings.

Dr. Dixit’s extensive healthcare background and specialized credentials align well both with her immediate responsibilities and with Sutherland’s position as a leader of transformation within the healthcare landscape. She has had leadership roles in every sector of healthcare, from provider organizations to health plans, pharma and devices. She led the incubation team at GE Healthcare, giving her experience in taking a new idea from concept to product to market. Her roles at Sanofi and Allergan gave her deep understanding of the complexities of data; and her work at Accenture provided her hands-on experience at solving complex client problems and becoming a trusted, knowledgeable partner.

In this new role, Dr. Dixit is also expected to spearhead Sutherland’s strategy on various initiatives around technology, payment management, big data analytics and telemedicine, internet of things and artificial intelligence.

A renowned thought leader in the healthcare industry, Dr. Dixit presents frequently at high-profile industry conferences and round-tables. She has won numerous industry, corporate and community awards, including GE’s “Innovator of the Year” award in 2009. She was also recognized at Phacilitate’s Big Data Leaders Forum as a Top 50 big data leader influencing the pharmaceutical and health plan industries.

Dr. Dixit is a trained physician and she holds a Masters in Informatics from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey as well as a Master’s in Public Health from Columbia University. She also guest lectures at Columbia University Business School and is a fellow and active member of the Health Innovation Technology Lab in New York. She is also a member of the invitation-only Rutgers Customer Experience Advisory Board.
