HfS names Sutherland healthcare to its winner circle in 2017 Blueprint Report for Healthcare Business Operations

In the HfS Research’s Blueprint Report for Healthcare Business Operations (available here), HfS named Sutherland Healthcare to the prestigious “Winner’s Circle.” HfS, the premier services research company, uses its annual Blueprint Report to identify and evaluate service providers’ differentiators in two main categories: innovation and execution.

HfS' Chief Strategy Officer, Saurabh Gupta notes, “Sutherland was ranked in our Winner’s Circle because the transformational solutions they offer illustrate their understanding of where real value lies in today’s healthcare services market.” Gupta believes the market for healthcare is drastically changing, noting “simple cost reduction is no longer enough. Outcomes oriented revenue enhancement that takes on both front and back office functions — from revenue cycle, to the customer experience, to Stars and HEDIS ratings — is the value proposition that today’s healthcare market demands.” Finally, Gupta commented on some of the digital initiatives starting to take shape in healthcare, “intelligent automation and analytics, bolstered by a digital first focus, is the way to maximize that value proposition. And that’s what Sutherland provides.”

Sutherland’s prestigious Winner’s Circle ranking in the HfS report is especially relevant today. As digital forces continue to disrupt legacy, volume-focused operations, Sutherland's performance in this year's report is especially relevant. The need for transformational services providers with the ability to innovate toward and execute against a digitally-enabled healthcare vision is vitally important to organizations across the healthcare ecosystem.

HfS names Sutherland healthcare to its winner circle in 2017 blueprint report for healthcare business operations “Sutherland has long been on a journey to help transform the industry through the creation of a ‘digital first’ focus,” said Sutherland Healthcare Chief Executive Dr. Graham Hughes. “To be recognized for our achievements in the HfS Blueprint Report at a time when both our clients and the broader healthcare environment are in such need of digitally focused, transformative change is truly an honor. It speaks not only to our market-leading vision, but also to our ability to execute against that vision on behalf of a broad and dynamic client base.”

The HfS Blueprint Report, which compares Sutherland with 12 other leading healthcare services organizations, specifically called out three of Sutherland’s digital strengths:

  • A strong portfolio of analytics solutions
  • The ability to leverage design thinking to create patient-centered solutions
  • A capacity to deploy automation to streamline processes

Combined, these strengths are the underpinnings of the transformational solutions that Sutherland offers to help healthcare clients move away from volume-based care delivery models and fee-for-service reimbursement strategies, and towards more patient-centric, value-based, digitally focused systems.

Indeed, with digital health funding hitting $7 billion in 2017[1], the pivotal role that digitally-focused organizations like Sutherland play in the move away from fee-for-service delivery models and towards value-based models that reward quality can no longer be denied. To highlight that role, Sutherland will unveil in the coming weeks a five-part series on healthcare’s digital future.
